Obehi and Gbovo have been in love since childhood. Now young adults, they want to get married but without jobs and no prospects of getting one, their financial situation prevents them from a future together. Obehi’s stepbrothers tell her she can make lots of money and they want her to immigrate to Italy where Nigerian woman are vulnerable and often forced into prostitution. Trusting his minister, who claims to know people in the US who help young women enroll in school and get a job, Ghovo convinces her to go to America instead. He promises to join her as soon as she gets settled. But unbeknown to Gbovo, Obehi is actually being sold into sex trafficking in America. As she struggles to survive and find a way back home, Gbovo tries desperately to join her in America but lies, treachery and lack of money thwart his attempts placing his life in jeopardy.
