Patois
synopsis
A coming-of-age story of a young first-generation American girl as she navigates her household with rules and tendencies that reflect the traditions of her parent's home country, while also trying to find herself and fit in at a typical American school. It's not until she is able to accept herself, accept what makes her different, and cherish these differences, that she is actually able to allow herself to be accepted by others. A character study that speaks to the importance of identity and self-worth.
