How to Fest

IN-PERSON SCREENING NOTES:

For health and safety precautions, all in-person PAFF screenings and events are reserved seating and playing to limited capacity. All pass holders and ticket purchasers must reserve seats in advance in order to attend a screening. Some tickets may be available the same day. Please visit the PAFF Box Office for availability for same-day tickets.

COVID SAFETY POLICY:

All PAFF attendees will be required to show proof of full vaccination (14 days after your final dose) against COVID-19 along with a matching photo identification each day you attend PAFF.

Proof of vaccination should include your name, type of COVID-19 vaccine, and date of dose administration.

Please note: “fully vaccinated” means more than two (2) weeks have passed since receiving your one dose vaccine (Johnson & Johnson /Janssen) or your second dose of mRNA vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) or other FDA or World Health Organization-approved vaccine (Sinovac, AstraZeneca, Sinopharm and Covishield)

If you are not able to provide proof of vaccination due to a medical condition or religious belief, you will need to provide a negative PCR-based COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of entry. Antigen tests will not be accepted.

Being unable to provide proof of full vaccination or a recent negative test will result in being denied entry to the event.

Masks are required at all times.

VIRTUAL SCREENING NOTES:

Due to restrictions from filmmakers and film distributors, films and events are available for a limited time and with limited capacity – and they can sell out.

Join us for the 30th Anniversary of PAFF in Los Angeles and online! Our 2022 festival will be a hybrid of in-person screenings and virtual screenings of films and events.

The festival will take place Feb. 8-21, 2022. In-person screenings of Features, Documentaries, Shorts, and World Premieres will be held at the Cinemark Baldwin Hills and XD in Los Angeles and virtual screenings of select films followed by Q&As with the filmmakers will be available via PAFF.org.

The best way to attend PAFF in-person is with a PAFF Passport, which gives you access to our in-person screenings (excluding Red Carpet Premieres and virtual screenings). Festival attendees can also purchase individual tickets for both our in-person and virtual screenings.

How do I watch films on my computer?

You can easily watch PAFF films on your computer.

To view content in the highest available resolutions (including 1080p as well as 4K/UHD when available), ensure you are using one of the following browser/device combinations:

  • Safari on macOS
  • Edge on Windows
  • Safari on iOS
  • Chrome on Android
  • PAFF Eventive TV app for Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV and Roku

Other browsers beyond these will still offer HD resolution; however, the above combinations allow for the maximum levels of secure stream quality. To ensure your computer meets system requirements go to our IT section for specs.
Can I watch the films on my TV?

Yes, there are various options for viewing on your TV such as HDMI from your computer to your TV, Chromecast, AirPlay, or utilizing apps on Apple TV, Amazon Fire TV or Roku.

How to connect via HDMI Cable?

Here is a guide on how to connect an HDMI cable to your computer:

How do I use Apple TV, Roku or Amazon Fire TV Eventive / PAFF app?

Apple TV

Please download the PAFF app from the Apple TV App Store (accessible via your TV). When you open the app the first time, you’ll see an activation code. On another device, please navigate to watch.eventive.org/tv, then login if necessary and use the code to connect your account.

Please note that you will not be able to purchase films or events from the app; you will need to select your films and events via your computer or smartphone first. Once you have unlocked your selected films and events, the content will be available on the app.

If you ever need to re-activate the TV app, you can select TV app setup by hovering over the login ID circle at the upper right of the device screen.

To activate your TV Device: https://watch.eventive.org/tv

Amazon Fire TV

Open your Amazon Fire Stick or Amazon Fire TV and navigate to the magnifying glass icon to search.

Enter PAFF or EVENTIVE TV in the search field and select the app when it appears. Once installed you will then see a 6 character code you will enter into your account settings at watch.eventive.org/tv.

Once you have entered the code your Amazon Fire TV will show all of the content you have unlocked for viewing via another device such as a laptop or mobile device.

To activate your TV Device: https://watch.eventive.org/tv.

Roku

To utilize the PAFF app or the Eventive TV app on Roku, search “AFI+” or “Eventive TV” in the Roku Channel Store on your Roku.

Once you have installed the app, open it and follow the instructions to login. All of your unlocked content will be available on the app. If a film or event has not already been unlocked, you’ll have to unlock it on another device such as a laptop or mobile device first.

To activate your TV Device: https://watch.eventive.org/tv

How can I watch content in the highest possible resolution?

To view content in the highest available resolutions (including 1080p as well as 4K/UHD when available), ensure you are using one of the following browser/device combinations:

  • Safari on macOS
  • Edge on Windows
  • Safari on iOS
  • Chrome on Android
  • Eventive TV app for Apple TV, Roku, and Amazon Fire TV
  • Chromecast from all browsers

Other browsers beyond these will still offer HD resolution; however, the above combinations allow for the maximum levels of secure stream quality.

I’m seeing a black screen where the movie should be, but audio plays normally.

If you are using an external display, try disconnecting the display. Your display may not support the encryption necessary to securely stream your content. If you cannot detach the external display and are using Safari on a Mac, try switching to Google Chrome. If you are on a mobile device, try letting the film play for 15 seconds. If none of these steps help, please contact us using the live chat at the bottom of the page.

General Troubleshooting

First, make sure that you are logged in with the correct Eventive account. If you are logged in correctly, you will see a circle with the initials of the account holder in the upper right corner of the page. If you are not logged in, you will instead see the word “Login” at the upper right corner of the page. Click “Login” and enter the desired account credentials.

If you are properly logged in and you still cannot play your film or event, please confirm that you are not on a VPN (Virtual Private Network.) Eventive’s content protection protocol does not allow VPN access. If all you see in the player window is a black screen, please click or tap on the window to activate player controls.

If you still cannot play your film or event, please refer to the IT Support section of this page, the Eventive FAQ Guide or email us at [email protected]
