Black Hollywood Comes Out for Opening of PAFF

The 30th Pan African Film & Arts Festival kicked off its in-person return and 13-day run with the world premiere of Remember Me: The Mahalia Jackson Story in Los Angeles at the Directors Guild of America Apr. 19.

GRAMMY® winning singer Ledisi (Mahalia Jackson) and Columbus Short (Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.) who star in Remember Me came out to celebrate the premiere along with other members of the star studded cast including Janet Hubert, Vanessa A. Williams, Wendy Raquel Robinson, Keith David, Corbin Bleu and Keith Robinson.

The film’s writer and executive producer Ericka Nicole Malone and director Denise Dowse also hit the red carpet with their cast.

Academy award winning actor and activist Danny Glover hosted the evening along with PAFF’s executive director Ayuko Babu.

The 30th Pan African Film & Arts Festival Opening Night was sponsored by Stocker Street Creative, Glassdoor and FX Networks.

An encore screening of Remember Me will take place at the Cinemark Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza 15 and XD on April 29th.  Tickets are on sale in the PAFF box office.

PAFF30 will take place in-person through May 1, 2022, at the Cinemark Baldwin Hills and the Baldwin Hills Crenshaw Plaza. The Festival will showcase nearly 200 films, as well as a slew of accompanying filmmaker Q&As and audience engagement opportunities.
